Nathan heads up the risk control consulting and advisory practice at HNI Michigan. Using creativity, innovation and experience, he helps clients make impactful changes addressing the cost of risk within their operations.
Nathan’s favorite part of the job is catalyzing organizational change when it seems least likely. The bigger the challenge the better – while many owners, executives or employees may initially take the stance that “this company will NEVER change” or “there is NOTHING we can do about it”, this only makes the project more enticing to Nathan!
Nathan’s experience changing the game goes back far in his career, before he even entered the insurance and advisory industries. He began his career as a Health & Safety Manager at a large pharmaceutical company, where co-inventing a patented ergonomic and dust containment solution that addressed several unmet needs within the industry. This solution is now being used worldwide in the pharmaceutical industry.
Nathan’s experience spans the manufacturing, construction, transportation, and habitational industries. He has worked with clients ranging from 50 to 10,000 employees to significantly reduce losses.
To those who know Nathan well, his career in risk management is somewhat ironic. Growing up, he always had natural affinity for anything that lended itself to injury...three-wheelers, dirt bikes, competitive fighting, etc.
