Wisconsin may still see some reforms to our Workers Compensation Law during this current legislative session. The Workers Compensation Advisory Council’s Agreed Bill SB-536 was passed unanimously by the Committee on Labor and Government Reform February 4, 2016 and is now available for final approval by both the senate and the house before heading to Governor Walker’s desk.
The workers' compensation system in each state provides a mechanism to make medical care available to individuals when they have a work-related injury. Some states allow employers to direct care while others allow the injured worker to choose a physician. Most states provide unlimited care to cure or relieve the work-related injury or illness. But therein lies the problem.
Let’s face it, work injuries are going to happen. Medical costs are going to continue to increase. Lawyers are going to continue to knock insurance companies in order to snatch up clients.
